Category: News Releases

Today, Hispanic Access Foundation announced the ownership transition of Our Heritage, Our Planet Film Week to the Next 100 Coalition, who will continue in its tradition of celebrating the visual and storytelling traditions of Latino, Black, Indigenous, and people of color's voices and experiences in connection to our heritage and our planet.

"Over the past three years, Our Heritage, Our Planet Film Week has been an incredible platform that celebrates and elevates the stories, culture, and heritage of filmmakers from diverse backgrounds,” said Maite Arce, president and CEO of Hispanic Access Foundation. “We are confident Next 100 will continue this tradition and foster a vital dialogue on how the power of storytelling can inspire meaningful change in climate action and policy and collective responsibility for our future generations."

This year, Next 100 will invest in strategically planning for Our Heritage, Our Planet Film Week to return in 2025. The Film Week will continue to be a space for storytelling, dialogue, learning, advocacy, and relationship building. One that brings together diverse audiences to celebrate their work, while uplifting the common threads of our experiences. Next 100 will seek to create a space that can provide additional opportunities for funding, employment, education, and exposure for aspiring filmmakers of color.

“Our Heritage, Our Planet has established a vital and unique platform to celebrate and honor the diverse stories, cultures, and histories of communities of color in their long legacy of stewarding, enjoying, and connecting with nature,” said Chela Garcia Irlando, Executive Director of Next 100 Coalition. “We are grateful for the visionary leadership and strong foundation of success set by Hispanic Access Foundation. Next 100 is deeply committed and thrilled to continue bridging the arts and environmental storytelling to carry forward the legacy of Our Heritage, Our Planet Film Week.”

The festival will continue to feature interactive discussions between artists, communities, and decision-makers on environmental topics.
